When Paul Edmunds walked into our Auckland, New Zealand site as a teenager looking for work, he thought it might be a short-term job. What he found instead was a lifelong career filled with growth, purpose, and possibility.

Today, Paul is celebrating an incredible 45 years with Americold.

His journey is more than just a milestone; it’s proof of what’s possible when you say “yes” to opportunity.

For job seekers and future associates, Paul’s story is a powerful reminder: at Americold, you can build something big - and meaningful - starting from wherever you are today.

From the Freezer Floor to Leading the Team

Paul got his start unloading containers and operating forklifts in our cold storage facilities. It was hands-on, high-impact work which sparked a curiosity and drive that never left him. Over time, Paul took on new roles, stepped into new challenges, and worked his way up to becoming an Operations Manager.

Paul’s story shows just how far you can go at Americold. And not because of luck, but because we believe in developing talent from within.

What Keeps a Career Energizing After 45 Years?

Paul didn’t set out to stay for four decades - but with every new system, new responsibility, and new team member, he found fresh reasons to stay engaged.

The work evolved, and so did he. What kept him going? The culture. The camaraderie. The deep pride in doing a job well and helping others succeed along the way.

Till today, I still love coming to work; I enjoy my team; I enjoy running a team. It’s the people.

Leading with Purpose, and Planning What’s Next

Today, Paul leads with a true understanding of what it takes to build a high-performing, people-first team. He’s helped guide his team through systems changes, always staying focused on what matters most: taking care of people and pushing performance forward.

Meeting the budget at the end of the year, and growing our Associate engagement is something really, really special,” he shared, noting how recent site improvements have further motivated his team.

And he’s not done yet. Paul’s goal?

Hit 50 years with Americold before retiring. That kind of energy and pride is contagious - and it’s exactly what makes our culture strong.

A Blueprint for Future Talent

Paul’s story is personal, but the path he’s walked is open to everyone. Whether you're just entering the workforce, returning after time away, or looking for a company that invests in its people, this is a place where careers can grow in surprising (and exciting) ways.

You might start in the warehouse. Or on the dock. Or behind the wheel. And before you know it? You’re running the show.

Congratulations again to Paul Edmunds and thank you for showing us what’s possible.
