Tips from the Team: 7 Things to Know Before Your Americold Interview.

Thinking about applying for an opportunity at Americold? Already have an interview scheduled? That’s great- we’re excited to connect with you!

Every day, our recruiters and hiring teams have amazing conversations with people just like you: hardworking, reliable, and ready to make a difference.

Over time, we’ve picked up some helpful tips from those experiences - what helps candidates feel more prepared, what makes interviews go smoothly, and what helps people succeed once they join the team.

We want you to walk into your interview feeling confident and supported. Whether you're new to this kind of work or have years of experience under your belt, this is your chance to show us who you are and what you bring to the table.

Here’s what we recommend:

1. Know What You’re Signing Up For

Before your interview, take a few minutes to think about the job you applied for.

If it’s a frontline role, like a forklift operator, that usually means:

  • Being on your feet and moving most of the day.
  • Working in cold storage (yes, it’s cold- but we’ll make sure you have what you need to keep comfortable).
  • Being part of a team that helps move food across the globe.

If that sounds right for you, you’re already off to a strong start.

2. Be on Time (or Even a Little Early)

Showing up on time is one of the biggest things we notice. It tells us you're dependable, which is a big deal in warehouse work.

  • If it's an in-person interview, plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early.

  • If it’s over the phone, make sure your phone’s charged and you’re in a quiet spot.

3. Bring What You Can Talk About

You don’t have to have bring a resume - but come ready to tell us about:

  • Where you’ve worked before (even if it wasn’t warehouse work).

  • What types of work you excel at.

  • What kind of schedule you're looking for.

4. Talk the Way You Work

During the interview:

  • Tell the truth about your work history and what you're looking for.
  • Share how you like to work (fast-paced, hands-on, part of a team).
  • Ask any questions you have about the job, schedule, or location.

If you’re friendly, focused, and eager to work, that shines through - and that’s exactly the kind of person we’re looking for on our team.

5. Dress for the Environment

If your interview is on-site at one of our facilities, be prepared for a chilly environment, especially if a tour is part of your visit.

  • We’ll provide a jacket, but we strongly recommend wearing long pants and closed-toe shoes.
  • Dressing in layers is a smart move so you can stay comfortable throughout your visit.

Safety and comfort are key and being prepared shows us you're ready to step into the role.

6. Prepare for a Video Interview

Even though you're not meeting in person, it's still important to present yourself professionally on screen.

  • Choose business casual or professional attire, just as you would for an in-person meeting.
  • Avoid overly bright colors or busy patterns that can be distracting on camera.
  • Make sure your background is tidy, and your lighting is good, so you come across clearly and confidently.

Try not to interview from your phone unless it’s your only option for video. A stable setup makes a strong impression

After the Interview: Stay in the Game

Once you’ve held your interview, you’re in the process - and we want to keep it moving.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Answer your phone if a recruiter or hiring manager calls you back.
  • Keep an eye on your email in case we send you next steps.
  • Get your documents ready (like a photo ID and anything else you might need for background checks or hiring paperwork).

We Hire Good People, Not Perfect Ones

At Americold, we believe in giving people a chance to grow. You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to be willing to show up, work hard, and be part of the team.

If that sounds like you, we want to hear from you!
